Little poems for little children, suitable for memorizing for recitation at school and at home

About this book

Valeria J. Campbell gathers short poems for young children to memorize and recite at school or at home. In one longer piece, Prince the dog watches over Pearl as a baby and later carries her school things, making loyalty a child-sized story. The collection also shifts from playful animal rhymes to sorrow, as a child finds the summer flowers and butterflies no comfort while missing a brother. At Christmas, a mouse quietly outwits Santa by making room in a full stocking with a small bite.
